by Boru Tri Club

The 30th Kilkee Hell of the West could not have happened on a more beautiful weekend, the event ran like clockwork in conditions were about as perfect as they could get!

The Boru Magenta was out in force on the day with a squad of 16 individual Boruvians entered the event including first timers in HOTW Michael Kelly pushing hard as always (2hrs 45!), Donagh O'Sullivan (2hr 49!), Paul O'Connor's first Olympic distance prepping for his first Half Ironman later in the year and Linda Bracken first Olympic now under her race belt (aided by a lot of encouragement through injury on the day). Fiona Ward completed the race with a suspected busted toe after the swim – so tough cookie Fiona!
All Boru members competing gave all they could in the heat of the day in a very tough event – Ray "Pickles" Hickey did a great run in spite of an injury.
First home of the Boru athletes was Speedy Colm McCole for the 2nd week running in an amazing 2hrs 29! and first Boru female home was the lovely Orla Foley in 2hrs 52. Its quite a feat to get home in under 3hrs in this event.

A great result also for Relay Team Kincora Warriors of Rosie Foley, Pat Minogue and Curly Cunningham – who came in 2nd overall with the phenomenal overall time of 2 hrs 15 mins – only a sweaty step behind the leaders. Well done Kincora Warriors.
A successful and very enjoyable weekend all round – the celebrations were mighty :D
