Sinking

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit received a call from a member of the public that a 16′speed boat was sinking in a harbour near Killaloe there was no one on board. Two salvage pumps were deployed to the scene and the boat saved.

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit would ask that all boat owners check their batteries and bilge pumps before the Christmas.

Seven brought to safety on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked byValentia MRSC to a report of an 18′ RIB that was broken down on Lough Derg. The RIB was located near Cahir Island and due to Dakness and weather bad setting it was decided to tow the craft to Mountshannon where the 2 women and 4 children were drivin by Coast Guard back to Killaloe. The remaining male passanger travelled back to Killaloe on the Coast Guard Rescue

Time Change on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to a Cruiser that ran out of Fuel on Lough Derg by Valentia Coast Guard MRSC.  As a result of  darkness setting in and a strong breeze from the south the craft was in danger of being swept onto the shallows of the Clare Shore, with minutes to spare the Cruiser with its two adults and two children were placed safely in tow to Killaloe.

Three Saved on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked along with the RNLI Lifeboat Dromineer and the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 115 from Shannon. The alarm was raised when a yacht heard a cry for help in the water near Hare Isl. On arrival two persons had already been taken from the water by the yacht and a third was taken by Killaloe Coast Guard it was decided that the RNLI Lifeboat and the Killaloe Coast

Killaloe Coast Guard Tasked to Assist

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked to assist a 21′ power cruiser that was having engine trouble. The power boat had three persons on board and was in no immediate danger. While preparing to launch, Valentia Coast Guard Regional Control Center learned that the injured vessell was again underway. Killaloe Coast Guard was requested to standby until the craft had returned to safe harbour.

Engine Failure at Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was called to assist a sports cruiser that had lost engine power South of Killaloe Bridge. The craft with its four occupants was towed to safety.

Cruiser Lost Power on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was called to assist a large motor cruiser that had lost its gears just west of Scarriff Bay. Due to WSW winds another craft and a jetski stood by until the Killaloe Unit Rescue Boat “Dalton” arrived on scene. The Injuried Craft with one person on board was towed to safe Harbour near by.

Barge avoids possible collision with Killaloe Bridge

Killaloe Coast Guard received a call from a member of the public stating that a 20′ small barge type vessel was a drift and gathering momentum towards Killaloe Bridge. The Spirit of Killaloe assisted by pushing the boat to the shoreline were the Irish Coast Guard Rescue Boat “Dalton” then towed the injured craft to safe mooring. It was established that no persons had been on board.

Engine Failure on lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit while on maneuvers on Lough Derg assisted a Power Cruiser that lost engine power. The craft with three adults and one child on board and all wearing life jackets were towed to safe harbour.

Yacht Adrift at Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to a report of a Sailing Cruiser adrift south of Killaloe Bridge. Killaloe Coast Guard who was preparing for an overnight training exercise from Foynes to Ballybunnion launched immediately the vessel was recovered and tied up a Ballina Moorings with no one on board.

The Crew then proceeded to Foynes by Road launched at Foynes Yacht Club and carried out training
