Sea Kayak Solo Around Ireland

On June 4th of June departed his family home town of Cobh, Co. cork and is attempting to Sea Kayak Solo Around Ireland in under 35 days.  To meet his target he will have to cover an average of 30miles per day spending up to 12 hours in my trusty boat battling strong currents and gusting winds.

Cruiser aground on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by Valantia to launch rescue RIB and Mobile 1. to the scene of a 30 Ft Cruiser that ran aground at the Middle Ground on Lough Derg the vessel lost one drive and damaged its steering. The cruiser and its two passengers was towed by another boat which was in the area to Bunglasha Co Clare. As the injured vessel was requesting that they proceed with Journey

Swimmers in Danger on Lough Derg

The Officer in Charge Joe Doolan received a call from Valentia MRCC  (who had also requested Killaloe Gardai to respond) reporting that they had had a call from a Member of the the Public about unsocial and possible dangerous/distruptive water behaviour in the ‘Lough Derg’ Area. Dangerous Manoeuvres

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked by Valentia Marine Control Center when a report from members of public to Killaloe Gardai of a boat acting dangerously on Lough Derg at Twomile Gate nera Killaloe, Killaloe Gardai requested assistance from Killaloe Coast Guard Unit in Locating the boat. After investigation nothing was found.

Water Safety Kidadangan NS

Killaloe Coast Guard unit carried out its first Water Safety presentation of 2012 with Puckane NS 4th, 5th and 6th Classes. the boy,s and girls were given a power point presentation on water safety and what to do if they see some one in trouble etc. after the presentation the students were shown some of the equipment used by the Coast guard in saving lives.

Busy Easter Week-end

Killaloe Coast Guard was called to assist a hired cruiser that had gone aground outside of the navigation channel on Lough Derg. The Cruiser with 3 persons on board was towed from the rocks and under its own power was escorted to Killaloe.

Speed Boat re floated at Killaloe Marina

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were tasked to an 18′ Speed Boat that was sinking at its mooring. Killaloe Coast Guard used one on its salvage pumps to re float the Boat.
