Killaloe to become part of Tipperary.
County Managers from Clare and Tipperary have negotiated revisions to the county borders that will move Tipperary across the Shannon into some parts of what is currently County Clare. A spokesman from Tipperary stated that; “in the present context it makes sense for all infrastructure responsibility to merge”.
In the deal the county line will move up to but not include Smith O’Briens GAA grounds, a delighted Clare spokesman stated that “in return for handing over the bulk Killaloe it had been agreed that Ballina GAA would come under control of Clare GAA county board. This will be a much needed boost for the banner.” The change over is expected to take effect within the coming weeks.
