Brian Boru Tri Challenge 2012

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit Whilst covering the Brian Boru Triathlon  came across a swimmer in difficulty. The swimmer was assisted by crew and taken to Two Mile Gate from where the First Aid team took over. The swimmer had traveled from Australia and was jet lagged so could not cope with the swim, but was found to be in stable condition.

Body Recovered on Lough Derg

Capsized Speed Boat on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia Coast Guard Radio Station to a report of an upturned speed cruiser in the Garrykennedy area. The Unit quickly responded along with the RNLI Lifeboat from Dromineer and the Irish Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter from Shannon. Cruiser aground on Lough Derg

Pagers were activated by Valentia MRCC Coast Guard at 16.59, Killaloe Coast Guard Unit responded and assembled at base just as Valentia stood the call down. Incident involved a Cruiser that had ran aground just off Tinaranna House, the skipper contacted Valentia of their situation and was then assisted by a passing boat which resolved the issue.

Cruiser towed to safety

Sea Plane False Alarm

Cruiser aground on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by Valantia to launch rescue RIB and Mobile 1. to the scene of a 30 Ft Cruiser that ran aground at the Middle Ground on Lough Derg the vessel lost one drive and damaged its steering. The cruiser and its two passengers was towed by another boat which was in the area to Bunglasha Co Clare. As the injured vessel was requesting that they proceed with Journey

Cruiser without power on Lough Derg

While Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were on Compliance Patrol they came across a stranded vessel in the approach to Scarriff Harbour. The 32ft Private Cruiser had lost Power, Killaloe Coast Guard Rescue Rib conducted a side by side tow  back to Scariff Harbour with its 5 passengers.
