County Down man David Rice has been an editor and award-winning syndicated columnist in the US, and returned to Ireland in 1980 to head the Rathmines School of Journalism.

He has taught communications skills for Trinity College, the University of Limerick, the Dublin Institute of Technology, Edelman Public Relations, the ESB, the Irish Academy of Public Relations, Xin Hua, the New China News Agency (Beijing), the Thomson Foundation (UK), the Church of Ireland, Bord Failte and the City of Dublin VEC.

His five books include the No.1 best-seller, Shattered Vows, and his most recent one, Song of Tiananmen Square, which was read on RTE where he was Writer in Residence on High Noon. His books have been published in Britain, Ireland, Germany, and the US, by HarperCollins, Penguin/Michael Joseph, Bertelsmann, Goldmann Verlag, William Morrow, Blackstaff, Folens and Brandon/Mount Eagle.
