Irish ChamberOrchestra
A NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM…..THIS THURS & FRI (LIMERICK & CORK) The Irish Chamber Orchestra presents A Night in Bethlehem, a festive feast at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick on Thursday 19 December and St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Cork on Friday 20 December. Internationally renowned soprano Ailish Tynan joins the ICO in celebrating singing favourite arias by Handel and Verdi alongside a selection of best-loved traditional Christmas carols. The ICO Chorus, directed by Maire Keary Scanlon add plenty of voice to the occasion. Orchestral classics include Barber’s much-loved Adagio for Strings, one of the most beautiful and recognizable works in the classical music canon. No. 7 from Handel’s festive Op. 6 collection brims with merriment. Mozart’s Divertimento in B-flat enhances the atmospheric Christmas mood alongside Haydn’s fun-filled Toy Symphony which see the orchestra perform on some interesting instruments! Don’t miss this concert this coming Thursday and Friday – tickets sales are brisk! Book now on 061-331549 for both concerts! The Irish Chamber Orchestra is resident at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick and is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

Fabulous cycle this morning – group worked well together! any spin where you get home before the rain is a good one!!! half the group took the short option through Bodyke today and the other half went the whole hog. average speed clocked by the longer group was 27 so well done everyone. It was tough meeting that wall of wind at the top of Ogonolloe hill but it was a sunday morning well spent.
News to follow on the Santa Spin on the 27th…
