The Spirit of Killaloe is a luxury 50 seater passenger boat. On board is a choice of two decks, the upper deck is ideally suited to taking the sun and enjoying the spectaclar scenery. The lower deck which has central heating and a stereo system can seat up to 50 people with full bar facilities, tea, coffee and snack refreshments on board. The Spirit Of Killaloe is the largest passenger boat on Lough Derg. The vessel weighs 24 tons and is 15 meters long. It was built in Ireland and is licensed by the Department of the Marine. The Spirit Of Killaloe offers the perfect setting for functions, public trips, wedding parties, corporate tours or private parties.While on board our guide will give a detailed commentary on all the historical sites as you cruise past. Within an idyllic setting on the shores of Lough Derg, Ireland's "pleasure lake" with breath-taking views of Counties Clare and Tipperary, The Spirit of Killaloe offers a haven of tranquillity. Sheltered by the hills of Slieve Bernagh on one side and those of the Arra mountains in Tipperary. Killaloe lies where the river Shannon resumes it's course out of the neck of Lough Derg. A narrow 13 arched stone bridge leads from Killaloe in Clare to Ballina, County Tipperary. The towns have been awarded Heritage Town status because of their rich historical past. The royal palace of the High King, Brian Boru (926-1014) a founder of the O'Brien clan and one of the greatest kings of Ireland is just one of the sites to testify to the national importance of Killaloe. At the southern end of Killaloe, close to the shannon, stands the restored 13 century St. Flannan's Cathedral. Also in the grounds of the cathedral lies St. Flannan's Oratory. In the grounds of the Catholic church lies St. Lua's Oratory having been rescued from an island which was submerged by the Shannon's Hydroelectric scheme. Other interesting sights to see are the pier head, the canal and the heritage centre. Other activities available in the area include boating, sailing, canoeing, fishing, pony trekking, pitch and putt, golf, walking and much more. Killaloe also offers a wide variety of restaurants, each with it's own unique atmosphere serving a wide variety of cuisine.
